The Finnish Society of Media and Education's seminar on the role of art in supporting media education took place at Kiasma on November 27. m-cult participated in planning the event and contributed two components to the programme.
Key discussions in the seminar revolved around copyright issues: the teachers do not know what media materials they can legally use in the classroom. An answer to the dilemma was presented in m-cult's presentation "Creative Commons - Licence to use" which informed seminar participants on why and how to find and use CC-licenced materials. In the workshops section of the seminar, m-cult presented a workshop on open web production, where participants were introduced to the Popcorn Media maker tool and the free media resources of the Kallio Archive.
