Turku, European Capital of Culture 2011 announced the results for the Live 2011 Grand Prix media art competition today.
In the Digital Turku category, Evan Roth's Graffiti Analysis was awarded the first prize, while Antoine Schmitt's City Sleep Light received an honorary mention. Ulu Braun received the shared first prize in the Open category, for his piece Westcoast. All artists were seen in 2010 in the Media Facades Helsinki programme, as well as in Berlin, Brussels, Linz and Madrid. Congratulations to the artists!
With its 8 competition categories and over 100.000 euros total for awards, Live 2011 Grand Prix is a major international competition for digital culture. The awarded projects will be presented during 2011 in Turku, Finland.
Minna Tarkka from m-cult was member of the Participative category jury together with Drew Hemment (UK) and Anne Roquigny (FR). They awarded Michelle Teran's Buscando al Sr. Goodbar and StarWars Uncut by Casey Pugh, who will present the project today at Alternative Party.
