MEDIA FACADES FESTIVAL HELSINKI 2013 // 22.-25.8.2013, Kurvi-Vaasankatu, Kallio
With the theme Networked City, Media Facades Helsinki 2013 festival's creates connections between cities, maps out changes in European urban spaces and discusses everyday life and finances of the global networked economy.
The main events of Media Facades 2013 are located in Kallio district, around Vaasankatu and the Kurvi intersection next to Sörnäinen metro. Within the international Connecting Cities network the projects will also been seen in Autumn 2013 at urban events in Liverpool and Madrid.
In collaboration with Kiasma and the Streaming Museum, a selection of Nordic media art from the Nordic Outbreak touring events will be seen in Helsinki.
The festival opens on the Night of the Arts 22.8.2013 in an augmented dance event at Lasipalatsi Square, after which the programme continues in Kallio. The best way to enjoy the festival is during the dark evenings between 20-23. At the LED screen by Sörnäinen metro station, programming will be on 24 hours every day until Sunday 25.8.
