Thanks to a significant grant from the Kone foundation to the Finnish Media Art Network, the Media Art History in Finland (MEHI) project will be culminating in an ambitious anthology publication. With the working title The First Century of Finnish Media Art, the anthology will be divided in 5 thematic sections and a timeline following the development of media art from early inventors to today's expanded, multidisciplinary field.
The group of editors - Petri Kuljuntausta, Tytti Rantanen and Heidi Tikka - will work closely with the MEHI editorial board chaired by Minna Tarkka and over 30 researchers and artists contributing articles to the book. Within the MEHI project consortium, The Bioart Society (Erich Berger) will coordinate the process of the book which will be published by by art publisher Parvs in 2023. The Kone foundation grant also enables the English-language edition of the articles to be published online.
