M-Cult is an agency to develop and promote new forms of media art and digital culture, with a focus on cultural and social aspects of media and technology. A Helsinki-based non-profit organisation founded in 2000, M-Cult:
 

*works across the fields of media and collaborative art and open source culture

*supports artists in the creation, presentation and reflection of socially engaged/technically
experimental projects and practices

*brings together international partner networks and local groups and communities

*engages in cultural policy, documentation and archiving of media art and participatory culture

Who collects the information?

Server log files

The server hosting our website empties raw logs at the beginning of each month. These logs may include personal data, such as IP addresses or usernames embedded in URLs. This data is processed solely for fraud prevention, a legitimate interest under GDPR Recital 47. A In the beginning of each month, these logs are deleted.

Analytics

M-Cult does not employ analytics tools that track personal data.

Secure data transfer

All communications with this website are encrypted via HTTPS, ensuring data security during transmission. While your network provider may see you are accessing files from the M-Cult website, the content of these files remains encrypted.

Link referrers disabled

M-Cult processes personal data only in specific circumstances related to its activities, such as guest contributors and applications for open calls.

Open calls and email notifications

When applying to open calls, workshops or other events via M-Cult’s website, applicants may provide personal information such as their name, email address, city of residence, CV, and other non-personal details relevant to the specific call (e.g., residency proposals). Submitted applications are securely stored and automatically acknowledged via email. All application data is deleted once the selection process concludes.

You can request the removal of your personal data. M-Cult will replace personal identifiers with anonymized placeholders where possible. Backup copies of your data may persist for up to 30 days due to database processes.

If you believe your rights have been violated, you have the right to file a complaint with your national data protection authority. However, we encourage you to reach out to us directly first, as we are committed to resolving issues promptly.
