m-cult was awarded Helsinki model funding to realize collaborative art and media projects in the Maunula neighbourhood. "Helsinki Model" is a new initiative of the Helsinki Cultural Office which aims to support participatory art and culture in suburban areas of the city, and to reach new audiences for art outside the institutional context. The pilot phase of the initiative is 2016-18.
Altogether 12 art institutions received funding to bring art to 6 neighbourhoods. In Maunula, the National Theatre will create participatory theatrical projects, while m-cult's focus will be on collaborative media art, produced in the framework of Collaborative Arts Partnership Programme CAPP.
